Regarding the "Low Energy City Project" using LED products from MLUX.
The change of environmental laws on top of rising energy prices and scarce resources force cities and communities to save energy. There is a huge energy saving potential in the illumination of street lights, tunnels, public buildings, schools and administrative buildings. By using efficient LEDs from MLUX GmbH, up to 80% of energy can be saved. As a result, significantly better illumination and lower costs can be achieved. In order for people to move safely and freely, environmentally friendly lighting will be needed on streets, in tunnels, public buildings and public areas.
The federal government supports projects to use energy more efficiently and reduce emissions to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of transforming energy systems and reducing greenhouse gases. The objective continues to be a "multiplier effect" by promoting institutions with a social role model function and publicity impact.
Approximate share of lighting in the electricity use in buildings
- 70-85% car parks
- 60-80% warehouses
- 50-70% arenas
- 30-50% offices
- 30-50% schools
Street lighting in Germany as an example
German municipalities operate using approximately 9 million light points, of which approximately 40% are for street lighting. 30% of all installations are from the 1960s, which are obsolete and inefficient in many cases. By replacing the outdated installations with efficient LED lighting, 80% of energy could be saved.
